Are Piscifun Spinning Reels Any Good?

Piscifun does not have a very long tradition in reel manufacturing, however, don’t let that fact turn you away.

Of course, these are not top of the line reels, but for a beginner, or someone who is a summertime recreational angler, these reels are more than enough.

Piscifun spinning reels (#ad) have a good price-performance ratio. Buying one will not deplete your savings, and in return, you are going to get a decent reel that operates really smoothly.

That was one of the biggest surprises for me because I did not expect it from this reel.

Anglers are satisfied with these reels, and you will also be, if you know what to expect from it. Pros and cons are going to be listed in the following chapter, so that you can decide is it worth buying.

Anglers have different needs and desires, so it is hard to find an item that everyone is going to like.

Spinning reel Piscifun Carbon X is a great model, and if you are looking for an affordable spinning reel made by, this may be the one to buy.

Piscifun makes all kinds of reels, and they are all pretty much similar when it comes to durability, quality, and performance, however, this model is much better than I expected.

When it comes to other models, anglers are quite satisfied with them. You will pay a small price for a perfectly usable reel. For those who are not fishing on a daily basis, with proper maintenance, Piscifun reels can last a long time.

Piscifun Carbon X Spinning Reel [Review: What I Think?]

As already mentioned, Piscifun Carbon X is an excellent model (#ad).

Here I am going to list the basic information about it, and summarize the pros and cons that I have noticed.

Spinning reel Piscifun Carbon X is made from carbon and aluminum.

Body, side plate and rotor are made from carbon, which makes it really light. The weight of a 2000 model is only 0,22 kg (7,8 ounces).

Using light reels makes it easy to fish for prolonged periods of time, without your hand suffering from a lot of weight. Of course, there are other lightweight and good spinning reels on the market, but not at this price, with all the other useful features.

The gear ratio is 6.2:1 for all models except 1000, which is a bit slower, at 5.2:1.

There are 10+1 stainless steel bearings that are quite good. The reel operates really smooth. Number of bearings doesn’t mean much if those are poorly made, however, here that is not the case. I was pleasantly surprised, even amazed, how smooth it feels to work with this reel.

Carbon washers provide great drag which is protected from impurities with a rubber seal.

All of the materials used in construction are corrosion resistant according to a manufacturer.

Line capacity depends on a model, and I will tell you exact numbers in the following chapter.

Among other features, this reel has:

• Hollow nest spool
• Positive click drag
• EVA foam knob

This reel really looks and feels good. If you pair it with a light rod, you can really get a very light and comfortable setup, suitable for anyone.

It can also be a great spare reel, travel reel, or hiking reel. Due to its weight and low price, you will feel very comfortable carrying it around on camping and fishing trips, without worrying you are going to damage it.

• It looks nice.
• It is fast and responsive.

PISCIFUN Carbon X Spinning Reel: Cons

Same as every other product, this reel has some cons too:

• The drag can show some signs of minor surging in certain situations.
• Not as smooth under higher load.
• You will have to grease it a bit before you start using it.

Although it has some drawbacks, I consider it to be a decent reel and definitely plan to use it again.

Different Sizes of Piscifun Carbon X [2000, 3000, 4000]

This Piscifun Carbon X review is based mostly on 2000 size, but there are actually four sizes, including 1000, 3000 and 4000.

I will not mention the smallest one, as it has a bit different features and due to its size, that is understandable.

Materials used in construction of these reels are the same, and they differ in weight, drag, and line capacity.

Piscifun Carbon X 2000 has a maximum drag of 10 kg (22 lb). Retrieve per turn is 78 cm (30.7 inches). Line capacity is 0.261mm/110m (8lb/120 yd) for mono, and 0.202mm/135m (15lb/150 yd) for braided line.

A bit larger, Piscifun Carbon X 3000, is a bit heavier, and its weight is 0,226 kg(8 oz). Retrieve per turn is slightly higher than in 2000 model, and it is 85 cm (33,5 inches). Maximum drag is the same, 10 kg (22 lb). Line capacity is 0.286mm/130m (10lb/140 yd) for mono, and 0.234mm/150m (20lb/165yd) for braided.

And the last, also the largest, model is Piscifun Carbon X 4000. The weight of this model is 0,27 kg ( 9,6 oz). Retrieve per turn is 91 cm (35,8 inches). Maximum drag is higher than in previous models, and it is 15kg (33lb). When it comes to line capacity for this model, numbers are the following; 0.33mm/200m (12lb/215yd) for mono, and 0.286mm/250m (30lb/270yd) for braided fishing line.

In my opinion, I would choose between 2000 and 3000 model.

I am not convinced that the drag, which I already mentioned in the cons, would work as good in the largest model under heavy load.

Piscifun Carbon X vs Shimano or Daiwa Spinning Reels

When considering reels in this price range with similar features, you will frequently encounter Shimano and Daiwa. Both of these manufacturers are well known and make quality products.

So, what is the main difference between those?

When talking about Piscifun Carbon X vs Shimano, you may think that Shimano will outperform it. If we were talking about more expensive, high-end, models that would be true.

However, in the same price range, you will find quality, entry level, Shimano reels, but those seem to offer a bit less features.

Yes, they’re definitely durable, strong and have a great performance, however, they are not as light as Piscifun Carbon X.

Models in this price range do not have 10 ball bearings, or carbon body. Of course, Shimano offers some innovations in manufacturing, like Hagane transmission, so you can be sure that those reels are going to fulfil your needs.

When it comes to Daiwa, it is also a great reel manufacturer, but same as Shimano, you will get a bit less features within the same price range.

Anglers like to stick with brands they know well, because they are used to these items, and they do not want to change something that works very well.

However, I think it is worth a bit of risk, especially for the given price (#ad).

I do not expect for Piscifun Carbon X to be as sturdy as these two, but even if it will last a bit shorter, it will perform well and enable me to enjoy its various features.

Where You Can Use Piscifun Carbon X Spinning Reels?

As already mentioned, the reel can be used in both saltwater and freshwater.

This is a great feature as you can use one reel for all of your fishing trips.

When it comes to fish species you can catch, it is almost the same as with any other spinning reel of this size.

(Here you can check best spinning reels for catfishing ...)

While using it on your local lakes and rivers, you can use it for bass, walleye, northern pike, smaller catfish, crappie, yellow perch, trout, bluegill and other species of similar size.

This also depends on a selected Piscifun Carbon X size.

This reel actually has some good casting abilities, so you can use all kinds of lures. Whether you are using shallow spinnerbaits or medium depth cranks, you are going to be satisfied with it.

Having a 6.2:1 gear ratio makes it very versatile and useful in many situations. Having a reel with a gear ratio around 6 enables you to use all kinds of lures, even those usually used with slower or faster reels. You can make it work and get the job done, you will just have to make a bit more effort.

All of this really means that you can use this reel almost anywhere, at any time.

After I tested the reel and wrote this Piscifun Carbon X review, I can tell you that this reel is something you should consider when buying your next reel.

Beginners will find it easy to use, while a bit more experienced anglers will be amazed with the smoothness and precision.

Carbon reels don’t have to cost a fortune, and you can really enjoy while fishing with this Piscifun reel.

I can’t say that this is the best reel I have ever tried, however, it is among the best ones, if not the best, within its price range.
